The first thing I noticed about India is the fact that all the signage is hand painted. The identikit mass printed street signs and posters of the west have happily yet to arrive here. Of course not all the sign writing is of the same quality…
Walls are good. Walls are your friend, they hold the roof up. In my opinion they are especially good when covered with posters for many years and then bleached in the sun.
I think this would be a great place to clean your teeth and have a shave in the morning. To the left is the sea, rather foolishly omitted by the photographer on this occasion.
Funny how you don’t notice the important details sometimes. You order a Kingfisher beer as a bit of a treat. You neglect to notice the word “STRONG” in capitals on the front. You also neglect to read the 8.2% ABV on the back. Hick.
I love how people’s holiday photos always tend to represent the fantasy ideal of what a place is like. The reality of being in a place is usually quite different. I think it’s more interesting to show both sides. I don’t mean this in a particularly critical way, after all if I had some sort of Howard Hughes complex India would not exactly be the top holiday destination – I’d have chosen Hawaii or Disneyland or Legoland maybe.
