Dear Friends and Dog Lovers,
Little Boo/Balou is still not found nearly a month after being stolen. Reward now £2,000 thanks to the generosity, outrage and empathy of www.livepetshop.co.uk - a fabulous site whether you have pets to shop for, or not.
Don’t give up!
Spotting her is still possible at any time! Vets are a prime target for her safe return. Her allergy could still mean she’d be dumped at an animal rescue centre if the people have no money or she’s too ‘hot’ to take the vet.
1. Dog spotters. Remember she’s very small, and the same colour as a golden lab. She puts her ears back when streamlining along the street.
2. Dog Detectives ready to talk to dog owners. If you carry a poster or pic of her, just go up to dog owners and show them the pic and give them a little slip with my number. This is not silly. Dogs like her are very rare, hence their desirability, apparently. I’ve had a total of only 4 possible sightings nationally and lots of people know about her. Other dog owners are very concerned about dog theft and will not think you are a loony. They’ll think you’re a saint.
3. What to do if you see her or dog very similar to her. Ring me. If you have time, follow the person. Maybe you’ll get an address where they live or work. Only approach the person if you can’t follow them. Say ‘how lovely, etc’ and ask how long they’ve had her. Is she pedigree? Where did they get her, because you/your girlfriend would like one. Do you live round here because Chihuahuas are often scared of other dogs and you might bump into each other nice for the dogs to play together… Will she have pups? If yes or maybe, try to get a number.
4. Contact your local vets. This is easy. Within the next month or so, she will need to see a vet. This is a prime time to contact your locals maybe all the vets in your Yellow Pages! A phone call asking them to look out for her is enough. A back-up email with the Vet Letter, Poster and website address is even better. Scandalously, they will take ones money to microchip an animal, but don’t automatically scan new ones to their practice. Unless they are alerted that’s where you come in.
5. Dog Rescue Centres. It’s so depressing, but even Battersea, supposedly the best in the country, recently PUT DOWN a Dalmation which was micro-chipped and sought by its owner. Battersea have advised me to contact them every week ‘in case she slips through the net’. As already explained above, she may well end up in a, well, doggie gas chamber anywhere in the country.
6. Posters. I realise that not everyone is ready to do this, but it has already brought me many responses. Firstly, my local area knows all about her and the posters have prompted press about the increase in dog theft across the country. Secondly, 2 possible sightings (one checked out as not her) have come from posters in other parts of the country. With enough determination you can easily find a very small blonde Chihuahua in a haystack.
Please don’t think I’m mad. You would do the same for your nearest and dearest. She’ll be so desperate by this time, she’ll just be looking for someone to be kind to her. I don’t believe she’ll have given up hope of finding me or me finding her. Her 13 toys (she knows all their names individually) are waiting for her. Her doggie biscuits are probably stale, but they are there. And someone in the house keeps filling up her water bowl. I guess it’s too hard to see it evaporate.
Thanks for whatever help you can give. Here’s to LOST CHIHUAHUA FOUND! With your help…
